Thales SafeNet eToken 5100/5110 Setup
To use the eToken 5110, you will need the SafeNet Authentication Client (SAC).
1. Downloading the Driver
Make sure you have SAC version 10.8 (R2) or later. Earlier versions may not support the macOS Tahoe architecture or Apple Silicon processors (M1/M2/M3). Download the .dmg installer from your token provider's website (likely Pošta CG or CoreIt).
Since Pošta CG typically hosts outdated driver versions, the most reliable way is to download the latest versions directly from the vendor's website.
- Option 1 (most up-to-date): DigiCert Knowledge Base — look for the SafeNet Authentication Client 10.9.2499 (GA) for Mac link.
- Option 2: GlobalSign Support — select the "Mac OS" section and download the latest version.
2. Installing the Driver
- Open the downloaded .dmg file and run the .pkg installer package. Follow the installer instructions. The system may ask for your administrator password during the process.
- If the system displays an "Unable to verify the developer" warning, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click "Allow Anyway" at the bottom of the page.
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security. Find the "Security" section. If there is a message about blocked software from "Thales" (or "Safenet"), click the "Allow" button.
- Restart your computer. This is important for proper initialization.
- Insert the eToken 5110 into a USB port. The blue light on the token should turn on.
- Open the SafeNet Authentication Client Tools application (it will appear in your Applications folder). If the token is displayed in the list on the left (gold icon), the driver has been installed correctly.
- Keychain: On macOS Tahoe, certificates from the token are often automatically added to the Keychain. Check the "My Certificates" tab while the token is inserted.
If the Token Is Not Detected
If you have a MacBook with an M-series processor and you are using a USB-C adapter, try switching to a different one. Cheap hubs sometimes fail to recognize tokens.
